With the Office of Homeless Liaison for 50 Homeless children
Using nationally regarded ARTWORKS curriculum we will investigate Alvin Ailey Dance company and Juneteenth celebration.

Phoenix Families Housing Summer Community Center programming
(Parvin Road and the Olive street)
African Drumming, hip-hop dance, and visual arts with the Hip Hop Academy and artists Damon Patterson and Ryan McCord-Bey.

July/August 2008
Quest Plus KCMO Summer Camps (pending)
Chameleon will provide the school district 3 amazing arts camps in visual arts, dance and music. More information coming soon!

Club ES Kansas City Kansas (pending)
Chameleon will work with Club ES providing art workshops to 250 special needs children from Wyandotte County. More to come on this amazing opportunity soon.

Hot Summer Nights Rehab (pending),
Chameleon, led by artists Ryan McCord-Bey and Corey Thomas, will provide youth 12 -18 with creative programming on Friday and Saturday evenings.

 

Chameleon participates in the Troost Festival

The 4th annual Troost Festival was a major success! Chameleon provided Happy Feet Dance with Corey Thomas and Ryan McCord-Bey, Damon Patterson and Monica Guthridge, as well assound and technical support. The Chameleon Arts Caravan provided arts activities.

 

Green exhibition at the YWCA in Kansas City, Kansas
Chameleon's Hugh Merrill, working with his community arts class from the Kansas City Art Institute, curated an Earth Day arts Exhibition for the YWCA in Kansas City Kansas. Hundreds of people turned for the opening, which featured a performance by StoneLion Puppet theater.

Open Stage Tuesdays
Chameleon Arts Consortium, led by Damon Patterson and Monica Guthridge, has made Open Stage Tuesday a weekly venue to support area musicians, poets and writers with the opportunity to perform for a peer audience of artists and performers. Each Tuesday local bands, rap artists, blues poets and others perform form 6:30 to 11:30 at Chameleon. Over 100 artists have performed on the open stage since its inception in December of 2007. Block Community Print Shop
Belgian artist Christina Vantzou spent a month in Kansas City creating a series of silk-screens and completing the first part of a two-part residency. Christine has been invited to return in the fall of 2008 to complete her screen-printing project.

Man: an exhibition by two graduating seniors at the Kansas City Art Institute

 

The Gift Project
Over the past year Chameleon has had the honored to work on an ongoing community arts action with this population of pre-teen/teenage children through the Office of Homeless Liaison of the Kansas City, Kansas United Public School District. The kids kept journals, made visual art, danced and recorded original music. the outcome of the project is the production of dye cut images and posters titled the Faces of Homelessness to be installed in the Willa Gill Resource Center in Kansas City Kansas, May of 2008.
