Youth Arts: ya! @ The Radisson

Chameleon Arts and Youth Development has formed a partnership with Musication and the Radisson Hotel Suites - City Center to present artwork from Chameleon arts programs on First Fridays in the lobby of the Radisson Hotel. Each First Friday is an evening of arts and music with High Vibe and special guest from the Elder Statesmen of KC Jazz. 

First Friday of every month, Downtown Radisson Lobby Gallery, 5 - 9pm

Musication, Inc., a local corporation representing artists, musicians and their creative works, designed the First Friday evening of art and music at the Radisson as a fresh entry to Crossroads festivities.  Each First Friday High Vibe will have a special guest from the Elder Statesmen of Kansas City Jazz.  Bridging the generations, Chameleon’s premier arts and youth development organization will showcase the creative talent of Kansas City youth and their artistic endeavors.

Complimentary FREE parking, hors d’oeuvres, and FREE shuttle service to the Crossroads District complete the Radisson’s First Friday offering.

Opposite/Hands: Drawings by children from Kansas City Kansas, in partnership with the Office of Homeless Liaison
Music by High Vibe with special guest Elder Statesmen of Kansas City Jazz Dwight Foster
Chameleon provides vital and life changing visual arts, dance, theater and African drumming and dance programming for Homeless children from Kansas City Kansas. The exhibition, Opposite/Hands, presented a small portion of the creative art work by these highly deserving children.  
January’s special musical guest Elder Statesmen of Kansas City Jazz was Dwight Foster, a Kansas City native son who has performed with such great names as B.B. King, David “Fat Head” Newman, Billy Cobham, Groover Washington, Jr. and many more.   Dwight Foster's smooth sax sound enhanced the enchanting music of High Vibe featuring Max Berry, Denny Osburn and Michael O.

Holiday Puppets on Parade

Heather Nisbett-Loewenstein, StoneLion Puppet Theatre Artistic Director and puppet creator presented Holiday Puppets on Parade at The Radisson Hotel and Suites City Center Chameleon YA! Youth Arts exhibit.  StoneLion Puppet Theatre offers an array of unique puppet shows and educational workshops that have received national acclaim.  StoneLion Puppet Theatre will fly “Stellaluna” into Washington, D.C. on March 2007 as part of the Smithsonian Institute’s Discovery Theatre season.  This is the fourth year StoneLion will be part of The Smithsonian’s season.  Stellaluna and all the StoneLion puppets are located at Chameleon Youth Arts Development, which is the home to five unique arts and youth agencies connecting Kansas City Professional artists to youth.
December’s special musical guest artists are Horace Washington and singer Jackie Anderson. These two Elder Statesmen of Kansas City Jazz performers will create a holiday feeling along with the enchanting music of High Vibe featuring Max Berry, Denny Osburn and Michael O.

People to People International

People to People International presented their award-winning exhibition of youth art at The Radisson Hotel and Suites - City Center YA! Youth Arts exhibit.  Celebrating its fifth year, People to People International has inspired children and teenagers from all walks of life to participate in creating murals utilizing a myriad of materials and techniques.   Chameleon Youth Arts has collaborated over these past years to bring more visibility to this unique global mission of peace.

Music by High Vibe with Special Guest Horace Washington

Master Teacher Ed Hand his students were featured artists at The Radisson Hotel and Suites - City Center YA! Youth Arts exhibit.  Ed is a widely acclaimed artist with work in major galleries throughout the United States.  He is also a Chameleon artist-educator. Images created by Ed and his students were shown at the exhibit.
This month’s Elder Statesmen of KC Jazz featured guest vocalist is Horace Washington.  Horace added his unique jazz styling to the enchanting music of High Vibe, featuring Max Berry, Denny Osburn and Michael O.

September 1, 2006
September featured photographs by teens in Chameleon's collaborative summer Youth Internship program with Operation Breakthrough and the Creative Mind. Erica Wisdom, Chameleon artist-in-residence, taught 20 young people, ages 12-17, how to shoot and develop film and print photographs. A selection of these photographs was exhibited.

August 4, 2006
Children of Guatemala
August featured photographs by Emmett Merrill, a 13 year old artist who joined the Medical Missions Foundation trip to provide medical care to children from Guatemala June 2006. Emmett and other young people and artists from Kansas City provided vital arts activities and entertainment to over 700 children during the 2 week trip.
